The competition will be held in three levels: Block/NAC/Municipality, District Level, & State Level.

Block/NAC/Municipality Level Geeta Chanting Competition (Screening Round)

First, Second & Third prizes will be awarded to prize winners in each group. Where there are more than 40 students in any group, the group may be broke down into two sub-groups. The two sub-groups can have separate competition and First, Second & Third prize winners of each sub-group will be declared as joint winners.

All participants at Block Level have to chant the verses byheart. However, chanting by seeing book will be allowed only at Block Level to inspire the children, but no marks will be awarded fixed for memory. Marks will be awarded proportionately if someone chant a few verses from memory and then chant by seeing the book.

District Level Geeta Chanting Competition (Qualifying Round)

Prize winners of the Block/NAC/Municipality Level Geeta Chanting Competitions will participate in the District Level Geeta Chanting Competition. Only three winners in each group, First, Second and Third will be awarded who will qualify to participate in the State Level Geeta Chanting Competition. There is no provision of joint winner in the district level. Prize winners at district level have to register themselves to participate in the State Level Geeta Chanting Competition by filling up the prescribed registration form.

All participants have to chant the specified verses by heart. Chanting by seeing the book will not be allowed. All those who participate in the district level competition will receive participation certificate.

State Level Geeta Chanting Competition (Final Round)

Prize winners of the district level will only qualify to participate in the State Level Geeta Chanting Competition. Prize winners at State Level will receive scholarship for one year. All those who participate in state level competition will receive a gift and participation certificate.

Marking System

MEMORY PRONUNCIATION PRESENTATION TOTAL
MEMORY - Chant the verses by heart CONTINUTY - Chant the verses one after another without pause in between CONFIDENCE - Chant without fear and with self-confidence PRONUNCIATION - Each word must be spelt clearly with right pronunciation DEVOTION - Give you respect to the judges, the idol or the photograph of the daity/ great master, Chant with folded hands & do not wear shoes while chanting. DRESS - Please come with school uniform or simple traditional dresses. Do not come with modern stylish attractive dresses VOICE - Please chant with high pitch so that everyone can hear clearly TONE - Chant with sweet tone

This is applicable for Block Level and District Level competitions. However, the marking system at State Level will be different. When there is tie in marks secured by two or more participants, highest mark secured in pronunciation will be taken into account. Even if there is a tie, marks secured in memory will be taken into account. Decision of the judges in evaluation process is final and binding on all.

When the competition starts ?

The Block Level competitions generally starts from the month of July. The District Level competitions are generally held in the month of October - November. The State Level competition is generally held in the last week of December. The State Level Geeta Chanting Competition will be held at Hariharananda Gurukulam, Balighai, Puri on 28th & 29th December 2024.

Complete Chanting of Bhagavad Geeta

This year there will be no Complete Geeta Chanting Competition.

Some Important Points to Note

  1. No fees are charged for participating in the competition.
  2. The students have to take part in the competition at their own cost.
  3. Simple accommodation and vegetarian food will be provided for those participating in the State Level competition.
  4. Students studying in schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions in Odisha can only participate.
